Neuro Affirmative Parenting

Coaching support for parents who want to better understand their neurodivergent child and bring about a happier home.

Every family supported through Neuro Affirmative Parenting shares a common desire: to enjoy a happier, more harmonious home. Regardless of where a child falls on the vast autistic spectrum, this shared goal is at the heart of everything offered through our coaching programmes.

Unlike traditional approaches that seek to change the child, our method is grounded in the belief that it is the child’s environment that must adapt. This perspective lies at the core of our programmes, helping parents decode behaviours and uncover the underlying needs driving them.

Understanding behaviour as communication

At Neuro Affirmative Parenting, behaviour is never seen as something to "fix", it is understood for what it is – simply a form of communication. Whether a child’s behaviour is challenging or calm, it tells a story.

Our coaching approach focuses on identifying root causes of a behaviour, enabling lasting change by interpreting these messages, rather than trying to suppress them.
Through either one-to-one support or group coaching programmes, parents learn to focus on what they can control: their environment, perspective, and response. This shift brings clarity, peace, and renewed connection between parent and child.

Meet Vicky – The coach leading our approach and coaching

Vicky leads all elements of our Neuro Affirmative Parenting coaching offer. She is a qualified coach with a Master’s in Psychology, an Oliver McGowan Trainer, and has professional experience working within an autism assessment unit. She has also chaired the governing board of a special school. Alongside her lived experience of raising a neurodivergent family, Vicky brings a thoughtful and grounded blend of professional expertise and personal insight to everything she does.

Her approach is different to most. It doesn’t promise a quick fix, but it does offer practical, lasting strategies. After facing her own challenges and heartache in securing the right support, Vicky embarked on a long journey of learning and discovery. That experience now allows her to help other families leapfrog many of the barriers she once faced. What has supported her own family in finding greater harmony is now helping others create calmer, more connected lives too.Read Vicky’s story in her own words here

Expertise grounded in experience

We partner with parents looking to:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of their child’s needs and behaviour.

  • Reduce their child’s overwhelm, anxiety and reactivity.

  • Navigate the often-confusing world of autism support services.

  • Find tailored, practical solutions for everyday challenges.

  • Build a home life that prioritises contentment, connection, and happiness.

Whether you work with us on a one-to-one basis or join one of our group coaching programmes, you’ll move forward by learning to better understand your child, their coded messages, and to focus on those things you can control - that’s not about changing your child but changing your perspective and their environment.

Is now the right time for you?

There’s no ‘right’ time to start a coaching journey with us, but we tend to find parents find our coaching support most beneficial at critical turning points. For example

If your child has:

  • Been placed on, or is struggling to access, an autism diagnosis pathway, but you need support now.

  • Received an autism or ADHD diagnosis, but you’re unsure how to best support them.

  • Received an “autistic traits” diagnosis but you can’t access the support you need.

  • Been given a PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) profile, or you suspect PDA and need support managing their needs.

Or if you feel:

  • Lonely and overwhelmed by the world of special educational needs.

  • Fearful for what the future may hold for you and your family.

  • Frustrated because you’ve seemingly tried every autism strategy and it’s still not working.

Coaching requires work and is a partnership

We mention this because it’s important. Vicky won’t turn up and hand you an envelope containing all the answers you need, because there’s no ‘one size fits all’ approach.

Every child. Every family. Every situation is unique.

Whether now is the right time for you to embark on a coaching journey with us really comes down to whether now is the right time for you to put in the work and commit. And that’s about more than wanting or needing support.

Coaching is not a one-size-fits-all solution. It’s a collaborative process that requires commitment, energy, and willingness to try new approaches. That’s why before beginning we encourage every parent to ask themselves:

  • Am I open to change?

  • Am I willing to learn and try new strategies?

  • Can I make time for regular sessions?

  • Will I practise what I learn, even when it feels difficult?

  • Do I have the patience to be consistent?

If the answer is “yes,” then Neuro Affirmative Parenting could be a transformative next step.
