THE AUTISM PARENTING COACH
Empowering families to live happier lives where their children thrive
Hi, my name is Vicky Coxhead and I’m a super proud mum to my four, amazing, neurodivergent, (now
mostly grown up) children. My eldest son is autistic with a Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) profile, or as I prefer to describe, he is someone with a Persistence Drive for Autonomy. I have another son with attention differences, otherwise known as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Along with two others who, like me are dyslexic. My children inspire me every day and have been the making of me. My journey has not been easy, nor is it the one I had planned but, it has been epic - full of ups, downs, tears, tantrums, love, and laughter. I’ve spent the last 25 years working with children both neurotypical and neurodivergent as well as those with other additional needs. I have worked as a nursery nurse, nanny, and teaching support. More recently I’ve worked as an advisor to schools and parents - helping secure better outcomes for autistic children.
Vicky’s knowledge of autism is unrivalled. But it’s her understanding and her lived experiences which make her so special. She is wise beyond words and her practical strategies are invaluable. Our family is more connected than we ever thought possible because of her insight
Ruth, Head Teacher
Vicky is a great advocate for pupils and parents, especially those with specific educational needs, she brings her extensive knowledge, skills, experience and humour into all her work.
Vicky has transformed my thinking and helped me to shift my mindset . She has taught me so much about autism that I now understand why my son behaves the way he does. Vicky has given me valuable tools and techniques to support this. and the changes are incredible. I now feel well equipped and content in supporting my son and our whole family so we can live our live to the fullest and enjoy the life we have.
